Ky. Highway
Department Approves Traffic Island Design
In
September the
for the plantings in the traffic
islands at the intersections of Crescent Avenue and 3rd/4th
Streets.
Thanks
to the efforts of Deb
Henning, Chair of the Beautification Committee, with assistance from
Sherry
Carran,
the Botany Hills Gateway area will now have a splash of color.
Once the
work on the water lines is complete we should be able to begin
planting.
Below is a list of plants needed for the islands:
12 Rudbeckia fulgida/Black-Eyed Susan
10 Rhus aromatica Grolow/Fragrant sumac
30 Salvia azurea/Pitcher sage - Nekan
24 Sporobolus heterolepic/Prairie Dropseed
8 Asclepias tuberose/Butterfly weed
31 Oenothera speciosa/Showy primrose
6 Liatris spicata Blazing Star/Gayfeather
4 Yucca glauca/Blue soapweed
14 Echinacea purpurea/Purple coneflower
We gladly accept donations, so if you have one (or more) that you wouldn’t mind parting with,
As Deb recommends: “It’s a great reason to get out in the yard and thin out those overgrown flower beds
and get rid of those “mistakes”, like the three yucca plants that I’m overjoyed to find a new home for!
And, for those of you with “green thumbs”, all help is welcome in planting the islands.
